1.18 - know and use the relationship between weight, mass and gravitational field strength

Weight = mass * gravitational field strength W = mg

1.17 - know and use the relationship between force, mass and acceleration

Force = mass * acceleration F = ma

1.16 - know that friction is a force that opposes motion

Friction slows objects down. → It is a force that opposes motion. There is friction everywhere, except in space.

1.15 - calculate the resultant forces that act along a line

If there is an unbalanced force, the object will accelerate in the direction of the larger force. → This is the resultant force . To calculate it : 1. Look at which side has the larger force. 2. Subtract them. → The arrow should be pointing towards the larger side. 3. The result is the resultant force.      5N ←◼️ → 10N 10 - 5 = 5N Hence, the object will move forward and the resultant force is 5N.

1.14 - understand that force is a vector quantity

Force has magnitude . → It is measured in Newtons. Force acts in a direction . Example: 5N thrust is the amount of force acting forwards.

1.13 - understand how vector quantities differ from scalar quantities

A  vector  quantity has both  magnitude  and  direction . Example: velocity and momentum A  scalar  quantity has  magnitude  only. Example: mass and speed
